What do you get when you combine 50 years of off-road racing and the industry’s top performance manufacturers? A truck that has reimagined what a turnkey, desert dominating ½-ton can be. This is the 2024 Chevy Silverado FOX Factory Edition. Combining iconic prerunner styling with innovative FOX performance technology, this Silverado seamlessly blends the very best in aftermarket components with OE-level integration.
In collaboration with the legendary off-road racing Brenthel brothers at Baja Kits and a multifaceted engineering team across FOX Factory, this Silverado received an exclusive race-inspired suspension system using FOX’s 3.2 Factory Race Series Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks. These are controlled by FOX’s new Live Valve shock management system offering several pre-programmed damping algorithms through a dash mounted touchpoint for easy on the fly adjustment. These can be accessed
through the easy-to-use touchpoint on the dash with additional features available through FOX’s new mobile app. Netting 14.5 inches of front and 15.5 inches of rear useable suspension travel, the FOX Factory Edition brings a new level of performance to the late model Chevrolet Silverado 1500 platform.
Each of the 500 limited-production trucks receives a 700-horsepower supercharged V-8, 37-inch-tall BFG A/T KO2 tires, and a unique FOX Factory Edition exterior package. With an overall width increase of six inches, the truck uses carbon fiber fenders and desert-race inspired bumpers to create a functional and stylized finish. Under the hood, you’ll find a 6.2L that’s been outfitted with a Gen V Supercharger kit from Whipple. This V-8 has been specially tuned to produce 700 horsepower and 640 lb.-ft. of torque. Creating a beautifully orchestrated rumble is a cat-back performance exhaust system from Borla.
Each build comes with a recalibrated 10-speed automatic transmission and dual-speed transfer case cable of 2WD, 4Auto, 4Hi, and 4Lo. Power is sent back through a JE Reel driveline to a custom semi float Dana 60 rear axle that compensates for the added track width to match the front long travel suspension. It’s fit with an ARB Air Locker, 3.73 gearset and chromoly 35-spline shafts.
The Baja Kits long-travel suspension provides 14.5 inches of usable front travel. This system utilizes Billet Aluminum upper control arms, along with boxed and internally gusseted lower arms. The arms use durometer-specific rubber bushings and Mevotech TTX series ball joints for long life and ease of serviceability.
Ensuring reliable and precise steering is a FOX Factory Edition exclusive steering stabilizer, which works with an HD steering linkage system. The factory aluminum steering knuckles have also been upgraded with ductile steel ones. Rounding out this ultimate IFS configuration are RCV Performance axle shafts.
FOX Factory Race Series 3.2 Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks are the core of what makes this suspension so unique. The combination of patented Internal Bypass technology, along with an ECU equipped with an algorithm developed by FOX, allows the shocks instantly adjust to the terrain below. With FOX’s Live Valve technology, oil flows though one path during compression and another during rebound. This allows FOX’s propriety controller to independently regulate the shock’s settings in real time.
In addition to the position-sensitive shocks, FOX integrated Factory Race Series 2.0 IFP bump stops. Up front, these work with a pivoting arm to ensure optimal bottom-out geometry. This ultimately results in unmatched suspension control with dependable bump stops to soften impacts in the dirt.
In the rear of the truck, the traditional leaf-sprung suspension has been replaced with a Baja Kits trailing arm system using FOX 3.2 Factory Race Series Live Valve Coil-Overs to generate 15.5 inches of suspension travel. An innovative, and FOX Factory Edition exclusive, this suspension system combines two upper control arms, rear track bar, and Billet Aluminum trailing arms to create segment-leading suspension travel. Both front and rear FOX 3.2 Coil-Overs are also built with aluminum bodies and remote reservoirs and have 7/8” hard-chromed induction-hardened shafts.
Each FOX Factory Edition receives FOX’s proprietary Live Valve shock management system. Comprised of an 8-position controller that communicates with the position sensitive dual valve shocks offering millisecond adaptation to terrain and driving changes all controlled through a dash-mounted touchpoint allowing tuning through the pre-set terrain algorithms with future ability to integrate additional custom tunes. To optimize and monitor the suspension even further, the new FOX’s mobile app which allows you to view shock usage, record rides and so much more.
Every truck receives a 37x12.50R17 BFG A/T KO2 tire mounted on a special edition 17x8.5 Method wheel. These forged aluminum wheels have Method’s patented Beadgrip technology. This means that the inside of the wheel is optimized for bead retention using a combination of Beadgrip inner and outer grooves, along with an enlarged safety hump. The result is a wheel with tremendous bead-retention properties. Unlike a conventional beadlock, the Method Beadgrip wheel is DOT Compliant.
If you have the suspension and power, you’ll also need lighting to match those late-night desert runs. All FOX Factory Edition trucks use Nacho Offroad Technology lighting to create 60,000 available forward facing, night piercing lumens. Along with the barrage of light, you’ll get a high-clearance steel front bumper standard for added protection.
Throughout the truck, key areas of the chassis have been reinforced to ensure it can handle repeated off-road adventures. No matter if you opt for the single or dual spare tire carrier bed rack mount, you’ll be happy to know that it has be built to race-spec. So, you can push this truck in the dirt without worrying if your accessories are up to the task.
Making sure the tires stay covered are carbon fiber front fenders and bedsides plus a specially vented carbon fiber hood. All of the 500 trucks will be black, but you will see bits of carbon fiber peeking through via the custom graphics package and feature carbon fiber hood.
Attention to detail extends inside of the truck as well. Using custom stitched Katzkin leather seats, unique steering wheel and carbon fiber trim pieces, each Silverado has a premium feel that you would expect from Chevy’s highest trim package.
All of the 500 FOX Factory Editions will receive a unique number plaque. Next to this will be an auxiliary switch panel, which provides you with control over the rear ARB Air Locker, auxiliary lights, and ARB Twin Air compressor with additional switches easy to access for other accessories.
AMP Research retractable steps come standard, which make getting in and out of the truck a breeze. These tuck neatly out of view and harm’s way when the doors are closed and automatically extended when the doors are opened.
A unique high-clearance steel rear bumper comes standard, which retains the Silverado’s factory parking sensors. Given the added width of the truck, federally mandated maker lights were added to the center of the body and fenders on the truck.
By constantly monitoring parameters such as acceleration, braking, and speed, the FOX 3.2 Factory Race Series Live Valve shocks can optimize the settings regardless of the environment. Working rapidly, and seamlessly, the Live Valve system works to keep the truck level through every dynamic driving scenario. This leads to stability and ride quality benefits that puts this truck in a class all its own. Without question, the FOX Factory Edition has ushered in a new era of super trucks.
As these trucks hit the street (and trails) be on the lookout for new Baja Kits offerings and info coming available later this year for the late model Chevy/GMC trucks.
